Francisco Cervantes, owner and head trainer, was born and raised in Guadalajara, Mexico. Due to extreme poverty and the immediate threat of physical danger, Francisco was forced to leave his home and family and embark on a perilous journey alone across the U.S. border.

As an underage and undocumented immigrant, Francisco faced overwhelming challenges. He was forced to remain hidden to avoid deportation, unable to secure safe housing, legitimate employment, or a decent wage. These limitations, imposed on him as an impoverished child and continuing to shadow him into adulthood, served as a constant reminder that the road ahead only allowed him to go so far, and that there was a ceiling to what he could accomplish.

Today, after years of hardship, bravery, and relentless determination, Francisco is proud to be a U.S. citizen. Now, as a homeowner and entrepreneur, Francisco has achieved what many have only dreamed of, approaching every challenge and opportunity with the conviction that potential has no limits.

WHY DOG TRAINING?

As a young boy, Francisco spent countless hours observing packs of street dogs in Mexico, witnessing their natural behaviors and learning how they communicated without human intervention.

Years later, Francisco encountered his first client while walking Mancha, his 3-month-old mixed breed/Pitbull rescue (and the inspiration for our logo!), off-leash in downtown Montpelier, Vermont. As Mancha sat patiently at a crosswalk, a passerby, impressed by her calm and polite demeanor, approached Francisco. She desperately needed to know how it was possible—her newly adopted puppy had just bitten her child in the face, she was overwhelmed, unsure of what to do next. After just a few sessions with Francisco, the puppy's behavior transformed, and today, that same dog continues to live happily with her family.

Each year, Francisco works with hundreds of dogs with behavioral issues and he recognizes a common pattern: they are often misunderstood. Frequently labeled as untrainable, these dogs are consequently limited in their potential, with many even facing euthanasia. Drawing on his unique skill set and personal resilience, Francisco has connected with countless dogs, helping them—and their humans—overcome imposed limitations and reach their true potential.

“Francisco has the ability to read dogs in a way no one else does. He helps owners gain knowledge and confidence with their challenging dogs and affords us the opportunity to be the best leaders we can be.”
